This was the first Orff Course at the University of New Orleans, held from June 21 through July 2, 2010. The teaching staff included:Ann Harrington, recorder; Brent Holl, Basic and Movement; and course administrator, Dr. Beth Hayes.

These are pictures from the Orff Course at Virginia Commonwealth University held the last two weeks of July 2011. The course included Level 1 taught by Betsy Kipperman and Level 2 by Brent Holl, with movement by Mary Dorsey Evans and Recorder by Paul Bakeman. David Greennagel was the Course Director.

In early November 2011 Michael Nichols and Brent Holl traveled together to the AOSA conference in Pittsburgh. Michael and I arrived on Monday evening and stayed through the following Sunday.

In January 2010, the students at Pence Middle School in Dayton, Virginia worked together to make a new Bass marimba to add to their collection of Orff instruments. Mrs. Janet Hostetter was the supervising teacher and the project supervisor and consultant was Brent Holl. Mr. Holl has buildt marimbas with students since 1998. The marimba was made using the style and design created by Jon Madin in his book, "Making Your Own Marimbas."

In September 2008, the students at Crystal Spring Elementary school with the help of Gretchen Jensen, made two awesome marimbas, a Bass and and Aussie. These marimbas were later used for performances and sessions at the national AOSA conferences in Charlotte in 2008 and Pittsburgh in 2011.

In September 2009, with the help of Eric Young and the students of Price's Fork Elementary School, a new bass marimba was assembled, tuned and added to the classroom instrument collection.

In September 2007, Melanie Bolas and her fine students at Chancellor Elementary School in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, made two marimbas, a Bass and an Aussie.

In early March 2010 Brent Holl traveled to Blacksburg, VA to help Glen Chilcote and the students at Kipps Elementary School build a new Bass Marimba. In two days of frenetic and joyful work, the school had added a beautiful new instrument to their collection.

In late October 2011, the students and teachers of Lee Hill Elementary School in Spotsylvania County, Virginia gathered to make two new marimbas for the school music program, led by Daniel Radford, the music teacher, and Brent Holl, consultant. After four days of hard work and fun, an Aussie (3 1/2 octave, tube resonated) and a (2 octave) Bass Marimba were complete and ready to play.

In January, 2012, the students at John Wayland Elementary School in Bridgewater, Virginia made themselves a new Bass Marimba. The two-day project was sponsored by the school's music and science departments.

Shen Fine is one of the "house" bands at Skyland Lodge on the Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. We play in the Tap Room several times a month.

Shen Fine is one of the "house" bands at the Big Meadows Lodge on the Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. We've been playing at the Tap Room there since 2001.
