Brent,
I saw your name and thought I'd tell you that my 5th graders are working on Canon in Dorian and loving it. In fact, I've used quite a few of your pieces with my advanced group and my older classes. Very usable and fun! Tick Tock Shock is another favorite. The kids especially like that the pieces seem so hard at first, but then they learn them and amaze even themselves. :-) - Jennifer Schroeder
Hi Brent,
I have been using your books Wood Songs and Ensemble. I love your material and my students love your work. I bought your book when I attended Orff Level courses in Australia.
Have a great day.
Anne Lee - Malaysia
Hi Brent, p.s. I love Canons Too !! Fantastic
- Mary Jasparizza (A member of the VOSA in Australia)
I just started "Halloween" from Wood Songs with my Orff Ensemble this afternoon. It's going to be a challenge, but they really liked it! Having the CD example really helps!
- Paul Bakeman
I love your books! I have 3 of them! Middle school teachers are always looking for good material. - Anne Sprissler
My kids are screaming for more of your music. I have a hand-picked, after-school group that is loving Hey, Hey Jam and Noyce.
Addictive! Mesmerizing! The music of Brent Holl grabs your interest and attention is such a way that it makes it impossible to resist! My Orff ensemble cheered when I told them that I had ordered another of his books. You know you have a winner when teachers drop by during their planning period to listen to what the children are playing!
His arrangements are simple enough to facilitate quick mastery, yet intricate enough to maintain interest of the performers and audience alike. The only drawback is that he doesn't have dozens more books available! - Cynthia Sibitky
Just wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying working on pieces from Wood Songs with my 6th graders! We are having so much fun and they are so challenged! Thank you! -Ellen Gerstell
Your fame is spreading to Houston!!! My Orff group performed at the Children's Music Festival of Houston today but I think they should rename the festival, The Brent Holl Music Festival of Houston. Here's the pieces of yours that were performed.
1. Orange Juice
2. Jewe
3. Cooking Light
4. See Dees
5. The Hey Hey Jam
6. The Tick Tock Shock
7. Abudah
See what I mean??? When other Orff directors ask me what pieces are good, I always say, "Get anything by Brent Holl!" You rock, Brent!
