 Stand Up! is devoted especially to themes of justice, peace, wonder, compassion and love. Mike has included brief personal explanations about what inspired each song, included a few comments about writing songs, and tried to present the music in a format that is accessible, readable and sing-able for a variety of folk musicians, singers and song leaders. 

To that end, the scores prepared here are simply melodies with chords. They are not fully arranged for piano or four-part harmony (though a few of these songs have been more fully arranged and are available elsewhere.) We have left the music here open to individual interpretation, creativity and unique skill sets. 

Included are full-quality audio tracks in WAV and MP3 formats that match each song in the book.

There are songs about Old Testament prophets who cry out for justice, and refrains that echo from the Psalms. There are songs about Jesus who calls us to be peacemakers and show compassion towards the poor. 

 Each song is biblically referenced to help guide the selection and use of the songs. For the same reason, each has been paired with a brief vignette to prompt reflections on the song and its scriptural illusions. The printed music is presented in a format that is accessible for a variety of folk musicians, singers, and song leaders.

Songs for Kids has 25 songs, some are originals, some are traditional tunes and others were written by few friends of Mike. Many are selections from two precious children’s albums, plus six brand new releases. All are perfect for singing with kids of all ages everywhere! 

The songsheets are simple and singable, designed to help you learn by singing and playing along with the recordings that are included as an online download. Most of the guitar chords are very simple even for beginning guitarists, however, fretboard diagrams are included for a few less familiar and slightly more challenging chords. A few of the songs will require a capo to play guitar in the same key as the recording.
